tariffs for business customers in the Irish Republic - the Solarwave free brokerage
service Up to very recently there was only one
supplier of electricity in the Irish Republic, the Electricity Supply Board (ESB). On the
1st. of November 2007 the market was liberalised. There are now a number of suppliers and
the market for electricity in the Republic has been joined with that of Northern Ireland.
The source of wholesale supply for all supply companies is administered by SEMO, the
Single Electricity Market Operator. The electricity provided by the suppliers is drawn
from what is known as the Single Electicity Market (SEM) pool.
The following are the names of the suppliers of electricity in the
deregulated market in the Irish Republic, in alphabetical order. All of these companies
are licenced, by the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER),
for the supply of electricity in the Republic of Ireland:
